Furnishing A Baby’s Room

The basics:

Crib or cot and mattress

This is an essential piece of furniture to provide a safe and comfortable place for your baby to sleep. You can also choose to buy a moses basket or a bedside crib for a newborn, but eventually you will need a cot. A Cotbed is also an option to consider, they convert to a toddler bed once your baby has outgrown the cot.

Changing table

You will need a safe place to change your baby and another essential piece of furniture is a changing table. Some changing tables will incorporate a chest of drawers which can be handy for storing nappies, toiletries and clothes.

Wardrobe or chest of drawers

You will probably find that your baby ends up with much more clothes than you, so a wardrobe or chest of drawers are essential.

 A Comfortable Nursing Chair

Not always seen as an essential item, a nursing or rocking chair will provide arm and back support as you’re feeding or comforting your child, and they come in various styles. A stationary chair provides a safe and comfortable place to sit, or upgrade to a glider or a rocking chair for added luxury and comfort along with an optional footstool.
